Is the future of music in AI? French DJ and producer David Guetta believes so.

Last week, Guetta made the news after using deepfake vocals of rapper Eminem during a live performance. The Grammy-winning DJ posted a video on Twitter, explaining that he produced the song as a joke. But the move still raised copyright law-related and ethical questions; Eminem and his legal team, on the other hand, haven't responded yet to the controversy.

David Guetta deepfaked Eminem into one of his tracks

Last week, French DJ and producer David Guetta tweeted a live performance featuring a "deepfake" of rap artist Eminem's voice. In the tweet, he explained how he did it using AI tools.

He didn't explicitly mention which ones, but some have suggested he used chatbots like ChatGPT to write the lyrics and services like Uberduck or FakeYou to turn them into soundbites.

"There's something I made as a joke, and it worked so [well] I could not believe it! I discovered [these] websites that are about AI. Basically, you can write lyrics in any artist's style. So I typed 'write a verse in the style of Eminem about Future Rave,' and I went to another AI website that can recreate the voice. I put the text in that, and I played the record, and people went nuts," Guetta explained.

So far, Eminem and his legal team have yet to respond, if they ever will. Nonetheless, it does raise some interesting legal questions.

Researchers at Carnegie Mellon University have optimized the structure of seeds to develop a robot that can plant seeds efficiently.

Aerial seeding is a widespread technique in remote areas to sow seeds; they are sprayed from an airplane, helicopter, or drone. But the process is inefficient - this is addressed by employing seeds carriers that can improve germination efficiency by helping seeds to penetrate the soil.

And when a seed lies on the surface, it is prone to various risks. It can be either damaged by weather conditions or eaten by wildlife, resulting in low germination rates. Now, some seeds of grass species can bury themselves - an ability that would be highly advantageous for all seeds.

Hyundai and Kia roll out software upgrade to prevent rising car thefts

In response to a viral social media challenge that resulted in many accidents, carmakers Hyundai and Kia have rolled out a free software update to their customers to rectify an issue related to their security system. It is estimated that around 3.8 million Hyundai and 4.5 million Kia vehicles will be eligible for such an upgrade.

The news of an update was shared by the National Highway Traffic and Safety Administration (NHTSA) in the U.S. and confirmed how the automakers had developed a theft deterrent software to counter the absence of an immobilizer system, which gave way to multiple incidents of thefts across the country.
